The Sheares Hall Alumni Club (SHAC) is an independent, alumni-run club for everyone who has lived in Sheares Hall & Dunearn Road Hostels, from 1952 to today. Launching at the Founding Dinner (date TBC).

Right now, staying in touch with Sheares means a few group chats that slowly go quiet. Nobody is organising the game you would come back for, and the batches above and below yours stay strangers.
Sheares, with a lineage back to the Dunearn Road Hostels in 1952, has had no form of unified alumni association.
Once a Shearite, always a Shearite.
The SHAC exists to keep those people reachable: chapters that meet on a schedule, reunions by batch, and one club running both. Open to every batch since 1952.

Chapters
The SHAC works on a hub-and-spoke model: the SHAC is the hub, and chapters are the spokes. A chapter is a group of alumni who keep doing something Sheares does together: a sport, a supper table, a performing art, volunteering. Each runs its own sessions; the SHAC carries the admin, finance and comms behind every one, and is working toward OAR recognition. Founding chapters open based on member interest.

The SHAC is alumni-run, with a lean five-person board.

Is this for you?
If you lived in Sheares Hall (or its predecessor, the Dunearn Road Hostels) as an NUS student, you’re a Shearite. Every batch since 1952 counts.
Graduated in the eighties, nineties or before? You’re welcome too, and the first year’s calendar includes cohort reunions, with batch representatives to convene them.
Final-year residents, you’re the next alumni, and the register is open to you now.
- Must I have been in that CCA??
- No. Plenty of members join without picking a chapter at all, and if yours isn’t one yet, it can become one.
- Is it free?
- Yes. Membership is free in Year 1. Any future dues would be proposed by the Board and voted on by members. Some events carry a small cost.
- What’s the commitment?
- None. Registering takes two minutes and activates your membership. Come to everything, or just the dinner.
- I graduated years ago, or I’m overseas. Still a Shearite?
- Yes. Events run in Singapore, and the network reaches wherever Shearites have ended up.
